We were delighted to welcome visitors to the Four Courts on Saturday, 19 October 2024, as part of the annual Open House programme. The event provided a valuable opportunity for members of the public to explore one of Ireland’s most significant historic and civic buildings, while gaining a deeper understanding of its rich heritage and enduring role in Irish public life.
Throughout the day, our guided tours offered a fascinating journey through the history of the Four Courts, from its origins in the eighteenth century to its place at the heart of Ireland’s legal system today. Visitors were able to learn about the architectural significance of the building, the impact of key historical events on the site, and the evolution of the administration of justice in Ireland over the centuries.
We were especially privileged to have an experienced team of guides, including members of the judiciary, who generously shared their expertise and insights. Their knowledge brought the history of the Four Courts to life, providing visitors with a unique perspective on the development of Irish law, the workings of the courts, and the important role the judiciary plays in upholding the rule of law.
