Dublin - Four Courts - update for all practitioners and court users returning to the Gandon Building this week - 7 September 2026

Gandon Ground Floor Users

Gandon Building entry gate works (Part of the Gandon Building fire and accessibility upgrade works currently ongoing)

The Office of Public Works (OPW) are carrying out a programme of accessibility improvement works for the entrance gates of the Four Courts during the long vacation.

Wheelchair-accessible gates are being connected. While this is happening, the associated turnstile will need to remain closed. These works are expected to continue until the end of September 2026. The works and potential impact on access card holders are detailed below.

Chancery Place and Luas Side Entrances

One turnstile will be available for both entry and exit during certain phases of the works.

These disruptions will occur intermittently throughout September, and signage will be in place on affected days.

Fire safety and accessibility upgrade works to ground floor, Gandon Building, the Four Courts continues:

The Office of Public Works (OPW) have started these upgrades which include major refurbishment works to the accessible toilet facility and the adjacent male toilets on the ground floor. To progress these, and the fire safety upgrades, you may see and hear works being carried out along the ground floor of the Gandon building and to entry routes into the complex.

Due to noise disruption from the works the following courtrooms have been relocated for September 2026:

  • High Court urgent vacation sittings in Court 6 are taking place in Court 1
  • Dublin Metropolitan District Court Civil sittings in Court 23 are taking place in Court 27, 2nd floor, The Gandon building
  • Court 7 business is relocating to Court 10

Other temporary court relocations will be updated by notices on the courtroom doors or on courts.ie

We apologise for any inconvenience caused to court users while we make improvements to the building to provide more modern court facilities for now and the future.
