Support and accessibility for jury service
If you have been called for jury service and need help to respond, attend court or take part in jury service, support is available.
If you can’t respond online
You do not have to respond online. You can respond to your summons by post using the form that came with your summons.
If you have a question about responding to your summons, contact the Jury Service team at juries@courts.ie.
If you need accessibility support at court
If you have a disability, health condition or accessibility need, contact the court office as early as possible before your jury service.
Depending on the courthouse and your needs, support may include:
- step-free or wheelchair access
- accessible toilets
- induction loops or other hearing supports, where available
- information in an accessible format, where possible
- a quiet or separate waiting area
- additional breaks where needed
The support available can vary between courthouses. The court office or accessibility officer can discuss what you need and what arrangements can be made.
See accessibility at court for more information about requesting support and the facilities that may be available.
If you’re worried about serving
It is understandable to feel nervous about jury service, particularly if you have never been to court before. Knowing what will happen can help you prepare.
See what serving on a jury is like for information about your first day, how jurors are selected and what happens during a trial.
You can also take a virtual tour of our courts to see inside a courtroom before you attend.
If you can’t serve because of your circumstances
If a disability, illness, caring responsibility or another serious circumstance means that you cannot do jury service, you may be able to ask to be excused.
See asking to be excused from jury service for information about who can apply and how to respond to your summons.
Getting to court
Your jury summons tells you which court you need to attend and the date and time you need to be there.
For directions, opening hours, accessibility information and facilities at your courthouse, see going to court.
